Fairbanks to Beaver Creek

As you can see, it's been a while since I had internet access.  I'll break down the last 5 days into a few posts.  So, I left Fairbanks last Sunday and traveled to Beaver Creek, Yukon.  I love the Yukon!  I have a cool poem that I wanted to put in this post but it is buried in my luggage so I'll have to put it on tomorrow.  Here is a recap of the 10 hour trip from Fairbanks to Beaver Creek.

Our first stop was just 20-30 minutes from Fairbanks...North Pole, AK. 

This giant Santa was there the greet us, the real one was busy supervising the elves!

The reindeer were resting.  They have to save all their energy for Dec. 24!

It was a beautiful drive the whole way, the time went by pretty fast.

Next stop Delta Junction, AK.  Here is Rika's Roadhouse. Once a very busy roadhouse, now it's a museum and restaurant (with very yummy cookies I might add!)

Across the river from Rika's is this very peaceful looking cabin.

Also along the river, a nice look at the pipeline.

We had our lunch stop in Tok, AK.  It's really no more than a crossroads as you can tell by the sign above.

This picture pretty much sums up the town of Beaver Creek.  This was next to our hotel and the only thing around.

and looking down the other.  This was actualy a pretty nice stop.  The tour guides descibed it as "rustic".  The hotel was simple yet nice and clean and there were flush toilets (unlike some of the road rest areas).
